Prodigy Released From Prison
March 7, 2011 by Jason Rubacky · Leave a Comment
After more than three years in prison on gun possession charges, Queens rapper Prodigy was released from New Jersey’s Mid-State Correctional Facility earlier today.
The Mobb Deep MC, known to his mother as Albert Johnson, was arrested in New York City along with producer the Alchemist in October 2006 after police stopped them for making an illegal U-turn and found a gun in the SUV. Prodigy pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three and a half years in the clink. He will be on parole until 2014.
50 Cent, Prodigy’s former boss at G-Unit Records, tweeted the above photo of the rapper after his release. Mobb Deep were formerly signed to G-Unit but were released in 2009.
It’s too early to talk about new music, but Prodigy’s currently writing an autobiography about his life and crimes, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, to be published April 19 by Simon & Schuster.
